In addition to being tasty, garlic is filled with antioxidants that can help stop and eradicate viruses. This is due to the chemical allicin that is released when the garlic is freshly chopped. This natural antibiotic is also responsible for its aroma and of course the strong smell of garlic.
Allicin is known to lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, prevent blood clots and improve blood flow. Garlic as a whole has been used for centuries for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. Originally, it was also used to treat wounds.
With regard to your cold, increasing your intake of garlic can reduce the duration of symptoms by at least a day. It can also reduce their severity.
According to a study published by Mexican researchers, garlic consumption has been found to increase the number of T cells (cells responsible for the secondary immune response) in the blood. The greater the number of T cells, the stronger and more efficient the immune system, and therefore the body becomes able to fight viruses much more easily. In addition, another study has shown that garlic could be an effective alternative to fight bacteria as well as antibiotics.

In addition, ginger has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and can be used effectively to get rid of a sore throat. It also contains active ingredients, such as gingerol and shogaol, which have strong antimicrobial properties that help your body fight the cold-causing viruses.
